While I was living in the Washington, DC area, I always liked to hear about what was going on at the chapter house in terms of how much manpower we had, what our GPA is as a chapter, the condition of the house, etc. I assume I am no different than many of you who don’t normally get a chance to hear about what is going on at Nevada Alpha. That being said, I would like to start the tradition of a “By the Numbers” series where we post information for all alumni to learn about the chapter, if only by statistics.

That being said, this Spring 2014 recruitment, the chapter at Nevada Alpha posted some terrific numbers. Take a look and I will let the numbers speak for themselves:

The 2011 Carlson Leadership Academy was held February 4-6 in Irvine, California. The NV Alpha chapter was well represented with 14 members. Executive officers and other chapter leaders received training for respective executive positions and chapter operations. The chapter also received training in leadership best practices.

While at the Carlson Leadership Academy, the chapter received the Manpower Excellence Award for having the #1 manpower on campus. Individual awards were also given to two NV Alpha SigEps.

Will Wagner received the Zollinger Outstanding Senior Award – awarded annually to the outstanding senior in each district of the Fraternity. The award is based on outstanding scholastic achievement, fraternity and campus leadership, and community involvement. The award comes with a $1,000 scholarship to be given to a Sophomore in the chapter who shows the potential for excellence in leadership.

Mike McDowell was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award – presented to an alumnus who has shown to have given outstanding service on the chapter, district, and national level.
